Afterschool focuses on a video club in a college prep school on the East Coast. Rob (Ezra Miller) is filming a video about the school when he sees the two most admired girls in the school, twins, collapse. As he rushes over to them, they die of a drug overdose. Most of the movie is from Rob's point of view, and shown as if through the video camera he is carrying. It shows hypocritical teachers, repression and grief. Rob, and his friend Amy (Addison Timlin) set out to memorialize the dead girls, but their attempt at doing so is rejected by adult supervision. At the same time, Rob questions whether his roommate Dave (Jeremy Allen White) might be responsible for their deaths. This is a movie about growing up in the internet generation, when everything done might become public in no time at all. It also evokes the aftermath of 9/11 as well as Rob's alienation and addiction to internet pornography.moreless
