Age of Consent is a 1969 romantic comedy directed by Michael Powell. When aging artist Bradley Morahan (James Mason) feels like he has had enough of life in New York City, he escapes to the sparsely inhabited island in the Great Barrier Reef of Australia where he lived as a boy. As he sets up his shack on the beach, he meets Cora Ryan (Helen Mirren), a young wild child who sells him fish she has caught. Cora is saving up to attend beauty school in Brisbane. Meanwhile, her gin-guzzling Grandma (Neva Carr-Glynn), stands in her way by drinking up all her profits. To help her with her savings, Bradley agrees to hire her to model for him. Things begin to fall apart, however, when Cora's Grandma catches Cora modeling nude for Bradley. While Bradley ends up paying off Grandma, her drinking habits eventually lead her to take Cora's savings as well. In the end, Cora takes matters into her own hands before going to see Bradley and letting him that she isn't a girl anymore.moreless
