Aladdin is a 1992 animated comedy that relates the fantastical tale of the legendary hero, Aladdin. When Jafar (Jonathan Freeman), the evil Grand Vizier to the Sultan, fails to steal a magic lamp, he learns that the lamp can only be taken by a true "Diamond in the Rough." At the same time, the young street urchin, Aladdin (Scott Weinger), meets Princess Jasmine (Linda Larkin) while she is slumming in the marketplace. Arrested for the crime of speaking to the princess, Aladdin is taken by Jafar and used to secure the magical lamp since Aladdin is a true "Diamond in the Rough." Once Aladdin has the lamp, he rubs it and is astonished when a Genie (Robin Williams) suddenly appears. Aladdin intends to give the lamp to Jafar but runs away when Jafar attempts to kill him. With the Genie's three wishes on his side, Aladdin returns to the city, hoping to find a way to win Princess Jasmine's heart and defeat the evil Jafar.
