Alaska is a family adventure film that follows the journey of two children, enduring the beautiful but treacherous Alaskan environment with only the love of their father driving them. Jake Barnes (Dirk Benedict), is a pilot and a widow. He brings his two kids Jessie (Thora Birch) and Sean (Vincent Kartheiser) to Alaska to start a new life. Jake takes a job delivering cargo to remote Alaskan villages. Jessie soon makes a friend, Chip (Ryan Kent), who shows her Alaska's natural beauty, and she begins to really like her new home. Sean on the other hand, wants to return to the city and doesn't respect what his new home has to offer. He rebels and has a run-in with Sergeant Grazer (Don S. Davis), who takes him to police headquarters and calls his father. Jake picks him up and starts to scold him when Sean reveals that he hates his new home, and that he wished his father had died instead of his mother. Jake then gets a call to make a trip to Douglas. Despite bad weather, he sets off in the sunset and plans to deal with Sean when he returns. Jake's plane then comes up missing. Grazer calls off the search and assumes Jake is dead. Sean and Jessie set off in the wilderness to find him. Along the way, they free a caged polar bear from poacher Perry (Charlton Heston), who follows the kids believing they know the animal's location. The bear becomes their spirit guide, according to Chip's grandfather (Byron Chief Moon), who found the kids and decided to help them find Jake. The group, along with their bear, battle the elements and an enraged Perry. Can they find Jake before it's too late?moreless
