Alfred Hitchcock: Blackmail and Easy Virtue is a collection of two of Hitchcock's early movies. Easy Virtue is a 1928 silent movie that tells the story of Larita (Isabel Jeans), whose reputation is ruined by her divorc''e, Aubrey (Franklin Dyall). She goes to France, hoping to leave the past behind, and even meets John (Robin Irvine), who falls in love with her, but pretty soon she discovers that the past is not so easy to get rid of. Blackmail was shot in 1929, and it's Hitchcock's first sound film. The movie is set in 1920's London and tells the story of Alice (Anny Ondra) and her boyfriend Frank (John Longden), a policeman. Alice is sexually assaulted by a man she had an appointment with, and while fighting the man off, she kills him and flees. Frank gets the case and soon discovers the killer's identity. Alas, he's not the only one with that knowledge, and the couple is dragged into a never-ending nightmare of blackmail, threats, and violence.moreless
