Alice Through the Looking Glass is Alice's second journey to Wonderland, based on Lewis Carroll's famous book of the same name. John Henderson directed the film which was first released as a BBC television special in 1998. In the live-action film Alice (Kate Beckinsale) is all grown-up with a family of her own. One night she falls asleep reading a bedtime story to her children. When she wakes Alice realizes she is through the looking glass and back in Wonderland, now with a giant chessboard landscape filled with nonsense logic. The Red Queen (Sian Phillips) tells Alice that she can become a real queen if she moves across the giant chessboard and finishes at the eighth row. With Tweedledee (Marc Warren), Tweedledum (Gary Olsen), the White Knight (Ian Holm), and many more Wonderland inhabitants, Alice's moves lead her on many adventures and may lead her to becoming a queen crowned in Wonderland.
