Alice Upside Down is a 2007 preteen comedy about a girl adjusting to life in a new town. An adaptation of the first book of the Alice series written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, the film tells the story of daydreamer Alice McKinley (Allyson Stoner) and her family. Struggling with the death of Alice's mother, father Ben McKinley (Luke Perry) moves the family from Tacoma Park to Silver Spring, Maryland in time for Alice's 6th grade year. With enough to worry about already from her weird brother, aspiring rock star Lester (Lucas Grabeel), things get even worse for Alice on the first day of school. She embarrasses herself in front of a cute boy from class, makes a new enemy, and draws the worst home room teacher, the evil Mrs. Plotkin (Penny Marshall). When it seems like things cannot get any worse, Alice must learn to look beneath the surface for the good in things and find comfort in the unlikeliest of places.moreless
