Alice is an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, produced by Czechoslovakian film director Jan Svankmajer. A stuffed rabbit in Alice's bedroom comes to life, breaks out of its glass case, calls himself the White Rabbit, and runs away. Alice (Kristyna Kohoutova) follows him into a desk drawer. Through there, she arrives in a cavern and falls through a bucket. Alice finds herself trapped in Wonderland, a drab land with various household areas. Here, Alice meets with many strange and different creatures as she tries to find her way home. Eventually Alice meets the Queen of Hearts, who demands that Alice's head be chopped off. The film combines live action with stop motion animation. All the characters except Alice are portrayed with stop motion techniques. Alice herself narrates the film. The film came out in 1989, but was not available on home video until it was released on Blu-ray and DVD in 2011.
