Alive and Kicking is the story of a young dancer, Tonio (Jayson Flemying), and his brush with death. Tonio is a highly dedicated dancer who sees little in life but his craft. He works tirelessly, but after a life-changing illness, he is forced to re-examine life and his outlook on things. He befriends an older man named Jack (Anthony Sher), and the two form a complex relationship that quickly morphs from friendship to mentorship to love and sexual lust. Jack helps Tonio regain his zeal and love of life and brings the young man out of a bedridden state that he would never have otherwise recovered from. The two work together to defy the doubts of all the people that surround them, in a daring and almost impossible attempt to get Tonio back on stage and into the limelight. This film was directed by Nancy Meckler and originally released under the name "Indian Summer."
