Allie & Me is a 1997 comedy about an unlikely friendship. Michelle Halaburton (Lyndie Johnson) thought she had a good life, enjoying a close relationship with her husband, Dustin (Harry Hamlin). One day Michelle arrives home to discover that her husband is not very dedicated to the marriage. Devastated by his cheating, Michelle takes off, aimless and hurting until she runs into Allie (Joanne Baron). Allie also feels cheated by life. Although she enjoys working as a beautician in a salon, her developmental disability means that most people won't take Allie seriously, and she doubts she can ever manage a business of her own. Michelle and Allie see kindred spirits in each other and join together as unlikely outlaws, taking revenge on an unfair world by breaking into houses and taking whatever they want. When they break into a mansion and the owner is still home, the two women rashly decide to take Rodney (James Wilder) as a hostage. Allie starts to develop feelings for the hostage, and as the police close in, Michelle isn't sure how far she's willing to go as a criminal.
