Almost Famous is a 2000 coming-of-age film about a young man who accompanies a rock band as they tour across the country. William Miller (Patrick Fugit) is a teenager who longs to write about rock music. When legendary journalist Lester Bangs (Philip Seymour Hoffman) reads Miller's work, he decides to give him an assignment to review a Black Sabbath concert, not realizing that Miller is just a teenager. At the concert, Miller meets some groupies of the opening band, Stillwater, and quickly gets pulled into their circle. The members of the band like Miller so much that they invite him to go on tour with them. Miller immediately falls for Penny Lane (Kate Hudson), even though she is the lover of the band's lead guitarist, Russell Hammond (Billy Crudup). As the tour crosses the country, Miller desperately tries to talk his mother out of making him come home, while gradually learning all there is to know about love and music.
