Along the Way, alternately titled The Haven, is a 2007 film directed by and starring Andrew Bowen. Four boys who would otherwise be outcasts become friends in middle school in the 1980's. They come of age together in Connecticut, connected by their memories and their shared sacred space, called The Haven. In 1996 they graduate from college, and even though their lives and interests take them in different directions, they do their best to stay together. Trever (Briel DiCristofaro) is an aspiring journalist working for his uncle's news paper and coping with his parents' recent death. Warren (Michael Cade) has a degree in mechanical engineering but still lives with his abusive, alcoholic father. Christian (John McLoughlin) is a musician with a rock band in the New York City music scene. Jocko (Andrew Bowen) is a talented artist struggling with serious emotional highs and lows and parents who don't support his artistic ambition. As their lives take different directions, they each gradually leave behind their haven, but they can't leave behind their friendship. Their bond is strong and the more they grow apart, the more that bond gets tested and ultimately, the more it gets strengthened.moreless
