Amargosa is the award-winning documentary that tells the touching story of dancer and artist Marta Becket. The film shows how on a drive through a remote part of America in Death Valley, Marta and her husband Paul happened upon a ghost town. In the desolate town, Marta fell in love with an old opera house and spent the next seven years of her life painting and restoring it. Marta fixed up the old building and hand-painted her own Victorian audience. On the stage of this unique place that she named Amargosa, Marta performs her own ballets. During the process of fixing up the opera house and now with writing her own ballets, Marta has exorcised personal demons such as a distant and disapproving father and lingering self-doubt. In the desert wilderness void of people, Marta has flourished. She now rallies for the freedom of wild horses, and lives within the passion of her dreams and aspirations in a way that was never possible for her in New York City. In Amargosa, Marta lives the life she was meant to live and inspires others to do the same.moreless
