American Crime

Movie Summary

Director:
Dan Mintz
Released:
2004
Rating:
R
American Crime is a tale that is half serial killer drama and half media parody. Jessie St. Claire (Rachel Leigh Cook) is a reporter who, with the help of her crew, Jane (Annabella Sciorra) and Rob (Kip Purdue), tries to catch a serial killer who video tapes his victims. The killer documents and films his ghastly deeds and sends the information to the media. The trio of investigators become involved with a local show called American Crime whose host (Cary Elwes) presents local crime stories to the public. Jessie becomes a target of the killer when she is kidnapped. Jessie's faithful followers race against time to find her before she is murdered. This movie is filmed documentary style and it pokes grisly fun at the media blitz coverage that news shows often indulge in when the host of the show American Crime joins the hunt for Jessie and her killer.
