American Flyers is a 1985 drama about two brothers who defy their family's medical history of aneurysms and enter one of the most challenging bicycle races in the Western world through the Rocky Mountains. Kevin Costner plays Marcus, a sports physician intent on finishing the race dubbed “The Hell of the Westâ€? for its well-known potential for danger. He recruits his brother, David (David Marshall Grant) to train with him. David is hesitant. Their father died of a cerebral aneurysm and David constantly fears he also suffers from one. Marcus is able to convince David to join up, and the brothers prepare for the most challenging ride of their lives. On the road to the race, they make new friends and discuss their family's rocky history. Once the race begins, it takes all their strength and speed to stay in the running, but winning the race may be the least of their worries. American Flyers is a gripping sports drama, co-starring Rae Dawn Chong and Alexandra Paul.
