American Kickboxer 1 is a martial arts-filled action movie about a kickboxer B.J. Quinn (John Barrett), who lost his international championship title after an accident that resulted in the horrendous death of a man. Because of a false testimony by his the fellow kickboxer Jacques Denard (Brad Morris), the international boxing committee strips off B.J.'s title and suspends him from the fighting scene. B.J. is then accused and imprisoned for manslaughter. After spending a year in jail, he aims for a comeback to regain his world title, where Jacques is the now reigning champion after beating his toughest rival Chad Hunter (Keith Vitali). Upon knowing about his release, Jacques publicly challenges B.J. for a rematch and a shot at the title for $100,000. B.J. then teamed up with former rival Chad to train intensely for the big fight to get even with Jacques and reclaim the international championship title that rightfully belongs to him.
