American Pie is a teen comedy film released in 1999 about four friends trying to lose their virginity by prom night. The friends are in different places when it comes to their love lives. Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) has a long-time girlfriend named Vicky (Tara Reid) who he constantly pressures for sex only to be denied. Chris "Oz" Ostreicher (Chris Klein) is a jock and star lacrosse player who always comes up a little short with women. Paul Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) is a more sophisticated teenager, not taking part in the usual high school drama. Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) is desperate to get laid, but has no skills whatsoever with the ladies. The four make a pact to lose their virginity by prom night when they overhear a kid nerdier than all of them combined claims he already has. Not making things easier is constant teasing from Steve Stifler (Sean William Scott). Kevin decides his best bet is to stick with Vicky and keep trying to coax her. Oz becomes a singer in the school choir and begins to show his sensitive side to Heather (Mena Suvari). Jim finds out that the attractive Czechoslovakian exchange student, Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), likes him and he pursues her. Finch decides to pay Vicky's friend Jessica (Natasha Lyonne) to spread false rumors about his sexual exploits in order to drum up interest. None of these plans work out however, and the four are forced to confront the fact that maybe losing their virginity isn't the most important thing in the world.
