Movie Summary

Director:

Released:
1977
Rating:
R
American Raspberry is a 1977 American film that parodies American pop culture in throughout the 70's. Directed by Bradley R. Swirnoff, the film stars Kinky Friedman, Warren Oates, and Dick O'Neill. When mysterious sources take over the television and radio airwaves, havoc breaks loose and programming is replaced with crass, politically incorrect commercials and programs. Eventually the problem becomes so bad that the President of the United States (George Furth) steps in and demands that it stop. Some of the broadcast shows are "The Sexual Deviation Telethon," a telethon hosted by a transvestite, "Stay Down," a commercial for a spray that will stop unwanted erections, "Die Tough Battery," a Sears commercial parody that shows a battery powering an execution, "Mamorax Cassette Tape," a commercial featuring Adolf Hitler's voice on tape, and the family sitcom "the Shitheads." American Raspberry is similar in style to Kentucky Fried Movie, The Groove Tube, and Amazon Women on the Moon.
