American Wedding is the third in the international hit series of "American Pie" films. This time, the gang is all grown up. They get together for one last hoorah in celebration of their friend, Jim's (Jason Biggs) wedding to his longtime girlfriend, Michelle (Alyson Hannigan). Things start to go wrong right at the proposal when Jim's father, Mr. Levenstein (Eugene Levy) forgets the engagement ring. Jim stalls, but somehow Michelle mistakes his friendly banter at the dinner table for an invitation to sex. Mr. Levenstein walks in on them, but despite the embarrassment, Jim gets his proposal out and Michelle agrees. They make plans for the wedding, but the dress Michelle finally agrees on is only made by one designer in the United States. Jim and the rest of the old gang set off to Chicago, in an attempt to locate the designer and find Michelle the dress in time for the wedding.

Metacritic Score

  • 80

    Variety Robert Koehler

The funny stuff continues for a quite satisfying conclusion during the wedding prep and ceremonies, which Stifler single-handedly transforms into his own personal gross-out comedy ...

  • 30

    Los Angeles Times Manohla Dargis

Scott's energy helps keep the movie going during its sluggish moments and animates its few bright spots, including a pleasurably dumb showdown on the dance floor of a gay bar.

The New York Times A.O. Scott

You'll see better film on ponds.
