Amongst Friends follows three childhood friends from an upper-class community in Long Island that find excitement and danger on the streets of the city. Billy (Joseph Lindsey), Trevor (Patrick McGaw), and Andy (Steve Parlavecchio) have grown up together with loving, professional, affluent parents in Five Towns on Long Island. The comfort of their youth, however, leaves them dissatisfied and looking for thrills and excitement. That's what they find when they start hustling drugs. Trevor emerges from prison following a drug bust bitter and disillusioned. The only thing the dreamer can think about is rekindling his relationship with Laura (Mira Sorvino). He returns to Five Towns to find Billy has risen through the ranks of the local crime establishment and is using Andy as his gopher. The childhood friends find their success in the criminal world comes with a price - betrayal. The 1993 film is the directorial debut for Rob Weiss, who also wrote the screenplay. The film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the dramatic film category at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival.
