An Intimate Evening with Judith Owen is exactly what it says it is. This concert film features live performances by Welsh singer-songwriter Judith Owen. A darling of NPR radio, Owen is an independent recording artist with six stateside releases. Her musical style combines pop, rock, jazz, classical, R&B, and theatrical influences. Owen is known for her comedy-inflected performance style, and this release captures the experience for viewers at home. In this Intimate Evening, the singer shares nine of her favorite songs and the stories behind them, narrated with humor and personality. Own shares the stage with her husband and collaborator Harry Shearer (The Simpsons, This is Spinal Tap). He plays bass, while she sings at the piano. Together, they take the viewer on an intimate musical journey through her repertoire and life. Owen and Shearer are cofounders of Courgette Records, along with manager Bambi Moe. Her releases include original material, playful covers of rock favorites (John Lennon, Blue Oyster Cult), and even a Christmas album.moreless
