An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge is a 1962 French short film based on a short story of the same name by Ambrose Bierce. It tells the story of a Confederate sympathizer named Peyton Farquhar (Roger Jacquet) during the American Civil War, who is caught by the Union attempting to blow up the Owl Creek Bridge. He is tried and convicted, and sentenced to death by hanging. However, when the execution begins, the rope breaks and he falls into Owl Creek, swimming to safety. This begins a chaotic journey out of harms way and into the loving arms of his wife (Anne Cornaly). However, all is not as it seems, and the twist ending is sure to leave the viewer shocked. It is notable for winning first prize for Best Short Subject at the 1962 Cannes film festival. This movie was dubbed into English and aired on American television as a fifth season episode of the popular anthology series "The Twilight Zone."moreless
