Anacondas: Trail of Blood continues the giant snake saga, with a "fountain of youth" motif. The malevolent Murdoch (John Rhys-Davies), terminally ill, seeks a way to arrest his malady. The quest for a treatment involves an extract of the blood orchid, tested on a baby snake for effectiveness. The doctor devising the healing elixir becomes a tasty meal for the now enormous snake; the massive reptile then disappears into the jungle to feed its insatiable hunger and exact all kinds of serpentine vengeance. Vicious villains, seeking to earn a million dollar prize from Murdoch for the orchids he believes will cure him, vie with a virtuous team led by the herpetologist, Amanda Hayes (Crystal Allen), who, having created the monster snakes in the past, is now blindly committed to eradicating them. The nightmarish snake and its constantly regenerating clones seem impervious to any attempt to destroy them, although the humans, whether hired thugs or dedicated scientists, are not quite so fortunate.moreless
