Andy Kaufman: World Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion: His Greatest Matches is a 2010 comedic documentary about the television star's brief foray into wrestling women. Frustrated by the limited creative opportunities available to him on his hit TV show Taxi, Andy Kaufman decided to pursue a second career as a wrestler. In 1979, he decided to wrestle a woman on the late-night comedy show, Saturday Night Live. The audience response to Kaufman's "inter-gender wrestling" was mystified horror, which thrilled the anarchic comedian. Kaufman began touring the country, wrestling women in any venue available, including his own home. Kaufman offered $1,000 to any woman who could defeat him and even - in a flash of inspired chauvinism - agreed to marry any woman who proved victorious. Though he received constant hate mail for his actions, Kaufman loved the attention that he received for the matches and continued holding them until his health began to fail in the mid-1980s.
