Angels of the City is the 1989 drama about college students gone wrong. As part of a prankish sorority hazing ritual, the sorority forces a couple of young college girls, Catherine (Kelly Galindo) and Wendy (Cynthia Cheston), to dress up as hookers and troll around on Hollywood Boulevard. A bad situation gets worse when they witness a murder and then are kidnapped by pimps. Their boyfriends, meanwhile, are up to their own shenanigans elsewhere in the city, clueless as to the reckless behavior and potential danger in which their girlfriends are involved. The two women, already on drugs and alcohol, find themselves chained to a situation they can't easily escape and with no one to appeal to. Detective Jon Chance (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, who also wrote and directed), catches on to the situation and becomes the one possible lifeline these girls may have. Defying all the usual categories, this part drama, part romance, part thriller captures the intense street culture of Los Angeles in the 80s.
