Anima Nera is an Italian film that follows the anxious struggles that come with love and secrecy. Adriano Zucchelli (Vittorio Gassman) marries the affluent and respectable Marcella (Annette Vadim), but fails to let her in on one small secret from his past, that as a young man he was a bisexual prostitute. Then one day he is notified that he has been willed an inheritance, something that looks at first like a beautiful gift for he and his wife. He's received a spacious villa. However, as the details unfurl, Marcella discovers that a former male love had left the place to Adriano. Adriano almost hides the source until his former lover's sister, Alessandra (Eleonora Rossi Drago), a lesbian, shows up to lay claim to the property and exposes him. His wife abandons him and goes running back to an old lover. Ironically it is in the arms of her former boyfriend that she begins to explore the possibility of understanding Adriano's dark soul.moreless
