Anne Frank Remembered is a documentary film directed by Jon Blair focusing on the story of Anne Frank, one of the world’s most renowned victims of the Holocaust, who, at age thirteen, began chronicling what life was life for Jews in the Netherlands during the Holocaust as her family went into hiding and were eventually arrested by the Nazis. While we have Anne’s diary with her own words telling us her hopes and dreams as her family struggled to remain hidden from the invading German army, Blair utilizes images to accompany Anne’s words. Watch original newsreels, videos, and photographs with interviews with Miep Gies, the Dutch woman who helped hide the Frank family, Hanneli Goslar and Jaqueline van Maarsen, who were friends with Anne, and archived meetings with her father, Otto. Kenneth Branagh narrated while Glenn Close read the excerpts from Anne’s diary in this poignant and heartbreaking documentary that won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 1996.
