Another Planet is a journey in search of life's true meaning in a place far away from home. It was directed by documentary veteran Christene Brown and first screened at the 1999 Vancouver Film Festival. Cassandra Jones (Sandy Daley) finds it hard to live with her family who lives in a low-income community in Toronto. Her brother, Patrick (Kevin White), is a drug dealer while her mother, Mary (Marcia Brown), is an overly pious church goer who compulsively plays the lottery. She decides to become an exchange student and goes to Quebec. Cassandra arrives at a pig farm and meets several people who are also in search of their lives including another African exchange student from Mali, Abdoulaye Diallo (Tiemoko Simaga). Cassandra has high hopes of finding a life different from hers in Toronto. However, is leaving home worth her journey? Will she be able to find the life that is meant for her?moreless
