Antonio Carlos Jobim: An All-Star Tribute is a 1995 video that captures the final concert performance of the late Brazilian Jazz pioneer Antonio Carlos Jobim who died on December 8th, 1994. It includes such songs as the Girl From Ipanema, Chega de Saudade, Once I loved, A Felicidade, Se Todos Fossem Iguais a Voce, Wave, Olha Maria, Agia de Beber and O Grande Amor. The concert was a tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim who was the co-founder and leading composer of the Bossa Nova music movement. Bossa Nova adapted the percussiveness of Samba and combined it with the intimacy of the guitar, all the while echoing the harmonies and melodies of cool jazz. This new sound soon became a staple ingredient with the cookbook of Jazz. For his contributions to music Jobim was inducted into the songwriter's hall of fame in 1991. This concert showcased all his musical achievements and will certainly please any music enthusiast. On top of featuring his final performance other Jazz greats performed such as Shirley Horn, Herbie Hancock (who emcees and performs), Joe Henderson, Gal Costa, and more.moreless
