Appaloosa is a Western film that centers on an attempt to restore peace to a quiet town. Randall Bragg (Jeremy Irons) is a rancher who has been causing havoc in Appaloosa, a small Western town. When Marshall Jack Bell (Robert Jauregui) and his deputies come to Randall's ranch to arrest his helpers, he kills them. Tired of Randall's evil doings, the town hires lawman, Virgil Cole (Ed Harris), and his deputy, Everett Hitch (Viggo Mortensen), to regain control and restore order to Appaloosa. Immediately upon their arrival, a gunfight breaks out when Randall's men refuse to turn themselves in. Ultimately, Randall is captured but is able to escape. Virgil and Everett begin a search to find him, encountering a series of exciting adventures. However, Virgil and Everett begin to realize just how much control Randall has over people and they wonder what they have gotten themselves into. Appaloosa is the second film directed by Ed Harris.
