Arabian Nights is a 1942 adventure film directed by John Rawlins. Sheherazade (Maria Montez) is a beautiful dancer, wandering throughout the Middle East with her traveling circus and her fellow performers, including Aladdin (John Qualen) and Sinbad (Shemp Howard). Sheherazade's alluring beauty turns into a curse when she captures the attention of Kamar (Leif Erickson), usurper to the throne of Baghdad. His brother, Haroun al-Rashid (Jon Hall), is the true caliph, but Kamar uses his brute force to take over the kingdom. Unknown to Kamar, Haroun flees, eventually winding up at the traveling circus. Ali (Sabu), a young acrobat with a kind heart, decides to shelter the fallen caliph, but he is not expecting that Haroun will fall instantly in love with Sheherazade. Meanwhile, Kamar still remembers the beautiful dancing girl and orders his army to hunt her down and bring her to him. Sheherazade finds herself caught in the middle of intrigue, deceit and danger, but through it all she must keep her head if she hopes to restore her beloved Haround to his rightful throne.moreless
