Army Girl is a classic action film, set in the days when most of the world's armies still traveled on horseback. It focuses on the romance between a young tank specialist, Capt. Dike Conger (Preston Foster), and the local Post Commander's daughter, Julie Armstrong (Madge Evans). Conger is one of many proponents of a new piece of battlefield machinery called the tank. He is given the difficult task of convincing army officials that this new technology is far superior to horses and can be used to greater effect in the field of battle. The older soldiers -- the ones in charge -- disagree, having grown up and been trained to ride and fight on horseback. To prove the capabilities of the tank, Conger suggests a competition where riders on horseback will face off against the tank in a series of challenges that mimic the environments these soldiers would face on the field of battle. This 1930's classic is one of many war movies of the era and is a must-see for any aficionados of the genre.moreless
