Army Mystery, also known as Criminals Within, is a 1943 war crime film directed by Joseph H. Lewis, which tells the story of a soldier who is taking the investigation of his brother's death into his own hands. A talented US Army research scientist discovers a secret formula for a devastating explosive that could give a huge advantage on the battlefield. However, spies infiltrated in the country murder him, trying to discover the mysterious chemical. Unhappy with the ongoing criminal investigation, Army Corporal Greg Carroll (Eric Linden), the scientist's younger brother, decides to track down the murderers himself, facing the risk of being charged for desertion. He has a list of scientists who helped his brother produce the chemical explosive, who might offer him information about the killers. However, the foreign spies as well as the Military Intelligence are also after the list, each for their own reasons. Corporal Carroll is now being monitored by foreign criminals, but also by his Army colleagues.moreless
