Around the Bend, a 2004 drama, follows several generations of a family as they come together in the wake of a death. Henry (Michael Caine) is ailing and bedridden, and his grandson Jason (Josh Lucas) has taken on the job of caring for him, along with Henry's great-grandson, Zach (Jonah Bobo), and a live-in caretaker, Katrina (Glenne Headly). Henry's estranged son and Jason's father, Turner (Christopher Walken), shows up in time for Henry to reveal his last wishes to the family. Instead of leaving a traditional will, Henry stuffs handwritten notes in paper bags just before he dies during a meal at KFC. Turner, Jason, and Zach set off on a road trip from Los Angeles to New Mexico. Following Henry's wishes, they stop at KFC restaurants along the way, read a new note at each one, and scatter his ashes nearby. While the men make peace with Henry's death, Turner tries to reconcile with his son Jason, who doesn't understand why Turner left him.moreless
