Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Movie Summary

Director:
John De Bello
Released:
1978
Rating:
PG
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is a kitschy, cult classic horror comedy about murderous tomatoes. Directed by John De Bello and starring David Miller, this spoof of B movies was made with a budget of less than $100,000 dollars. The film opens with a pre-credit sequence in which a tomato rises out of a woman's garbage disposal. The woman's puzzlement and shock turns to terror as the tomato traps her into a corner. Splat! The police investigating the woman's murder discover that the red substance covering her body isn't blood, but is, in fact, tomato paste. Somehow, by unknown means, tomatoes have gained sentience and are revolting against all human kind. A number of bizarre and horrific attacks are perpetrated by the tomatoes, including tomatoes attacking swimmers in a parody of Jaws and a man dying as a result of drinking tomato juice made from a killer tomato. The President (Ernie Meyers) puts together a team of specialists to combat the ruthless tomatoes. Led by Mason Dixon (David Miller), this special forces team is mankind's only hope against total tomato domination.moreless
