Attack on the Iron Coast is a 1968 war film directed by Paul Wendkos. The film takes place in European Theater during World War II. Attack on the Iron Coast revolves around the actions of two soldiers, Canadian Major Jamie Wilson (Lloyd Bridges) and British Captain Owen Franklin (Andrew Keir). Major Wilson is planning an operation code named "Operation Mad Dog" that will cripple the German Navy. He intends to attack and destroy the only port with a dry dock large enough to service large battleships, which is the German-held port city of La Plage, France. Captain Franklin recently lost a son in one of Major Wilson's operations and speaks against his plan on numerous occasions. However, Winston Churchill approves the operation and Captain Franklin is ordered to replace a recently deceased member of the attack force. The officers are initially at odds, but they grow to like and respect each other as the attack nears.
