August Evening follows the dramatic story of Jaime (Pedro Castaneda), an undocumented farm worker, and his widowed daughter-in-law Lupe (Veronica Loren). At the beginning of the film the pair is living peacefully in Mexico, but tragedy strikes and throws their quiet lives into turmoil. Jaime and Lupe are forced to move to Texas in search of work. The strong bond between them is tested as they battle to stay together amidst profound changes that are threatening to drive the family apart. As the film progresses it becomes clear that change is inevitable, and this is something that the characters must come to terms with.
