Author! Author! is a 1982 comedy about the topsy-turvy life of a successful Broadway playwright. Ivan Travalian (Al Pacino) is one of Broadway's most successful writers. Unfortunately, his career is being hampered by his disastrous relationship with his wife, Gloria (Tuesday Weld), and the constant interference of their exuberant children. Things take a turn for the worse when, on the eve of his new production, Gloria finally decides to leave him. While he isn't particularly sorry to see her go, he is upset that she did not take her wild children with her. The only good thing in his life is the blossoming affair that he is having with Alice Detroit (Dyan Cannon), the leading lady in his new play who is not particularly fond of his children. But with his play about to debut and his family life in a shambles, Ivan will need a miracle for everything to turn out okay.moreless
