B-Girl is a 2009 dance film that chronicles the trials and eventual acceptance of an inner-city female breakdancer named Angel (Jules Urich) in the world of underground hip-hop. The movie, written and directed by Emily Dell, begins with a backstory that touches on Angel's lack of motivation for dance after a traumatic event where she is robbed outside of a nightclub and injured in the process. Her best friend is killed as well during the incident, which makes the lead character question everything around her: including her love for dance. As the film moves on, Angel eventually joins a crew that reignites her love for dance and drive to become the best B-Girl (aka: breakdancing girl) she can be. In the end, in the same vein as other dance movies such as You Got Served and Step It Up, the movie closes with a message of acceptance.
