Back to the Beach is a 1987 American comedy film by director Lyndall Hobbs, starring Annette Funicello, Frankie Avalon, Lori Loughlin, Tommy Hinkly, and more in its delightfully funny cast. Frankie (Frankie Avalon) and Annette (Annette Funicello) are a settled-down, middle-aged suburban couple who live in Ohio, far from their rad past in California. Nostalgia grows strong, however, when their daughter, Sandi (Lori Loughlin), moves out west, so they decide to go visit her in California. What they do not know is that she is hiding the fact that she lives with her surfer boyfriend, Michael (Tommy Hinkley). They decide to do what they can to break that unsavory relationship up, but then find themselves face-to-face with problems of their own. Frankie faces losing his title and reputation as the king of surfing to younger crowd while simultaneously facing losing his marriage after some less-than-wise decisions regarding relations with a pop icon. The characters are comedic, making even the drama funny in Back to the Beach, so tune in!moreless
