Badlands of Montana is a 1957 Western from Regal Films that chronicles the saga of a rugged man torn between both sides of the law. Rex Reason (Steven Brewster) is unjustly forced to flee the town of Cascade after taking the life of his attacker in a fair fight, a legal act under such circumstances. On the lam, he unwittingly stumbles into the hideout of a band of outlaws led by a notorious thief, Henry Harrison Hammer (Emile Meyer). Reason falls for Hammer's daughter, Susan (Beverly Garland), and soon enough is initiated as a bona fide member of the gang. But one day, Reason is captured during a bank stickup and offered a once-in-a-lifetime choice between jail time and taking over as Cascade's new sheriff. Thriving in his new role, Reason has to cope with his separation from the woman he loves, at least until his past finally catches up with him.
