Badlands is a 1973 movie based on a young man and a teen girl who commit a string of random homicides. The movie is based on the real life 1958 murder spree of Charles Starkweather and his girlfriend Caril Ann Fugate. Martin Sheen (Kit Carruthers) is a young garbage man who befriends Holly Sardis (Sissy Spacek), a teenager in a small dead-end South Dakota town. She quickly becomes infatuated with Carruther's good looks and charm but her father (Warren Oates) isn't amused. After Sargis' father disagrees with the relationship, he is shot and killed by Carruthers. After the duo leave town, they engage in a bloody, murderous rampage on their way to the badlands of Montana. Through Sargis' narration, Carruthers is seen as a blood-thirsty psychopath with a lust for violence, as she portrays herself as an innocent bystander. The FBI is intent on apprehending the criminals to stop the killings and ensure that they are punished for their senseless crimes.moreless
