Bamboo Gods and Iron Men is the 1974 martial arts comedy which follows a pro boxer who gets caught up in some crazy situations in Asia. The film is part blaxploitation film, part kung-fu flick, and was directed by Cesar Gallardo. Set in the Philippines, the movie features some of the Philippines' most respected actors, Chiquito, Vic Diaz and Eddie Garcia. James Iglehart stars as Cal Jefferson, an American prize fighter who is going on what he hopes will be a romantic honeymoon with his new wife (Shirley Washington). Things go wrong when he saves a drowning mute man who won't leave them, and later buys a Buddha statue. It turns out the statue has some contents which a deadly gang want, and will stop at nothing to retrieve. Join Cal as he does his best to fight off the gang, and receives help from an unlikely person in Bamboo Gods and Iron Men.
