Band of Angels is a romantic drama film released in 1957. The film was written by Ivan Goff and directed by Raoul Walsh. Band of Angels centers around Amantha Starr (Yvonne De Carlo), daughter of a plantation owner. When her father dies, a big secret is revealed; her mother was one of the slaves her father owned. Because she is now property, she is taken to New Orleans by a slave owner to be sold. Once she arrives in New Orleans, she is auctioned off. A man named Hamish Bond (Clark Gable) makes a large bid and ends up being Amantha's owner. She soon realizes that Hamish has no intention of treating her like a slave; he treats her with respect and dignity. The two fall in love and when Hamish arranges for her to be sent up north, she must decide what is more important; the love she has for Hamish or her freedom.
