Bandidas is a 2006 film directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. The action takes place in 19th century Mexico. An American bank finances the construction of a railroad across the country. It buys smaller banks in an attempt to grab the lands lying in the path of the railroad line that belong to farmers who owe the banks money. Acting as the big bank's interest defender, is the ruthless gunman, Tyler Jackson (Dwight Yoakam), who has no mercy when it comes to executing his cruel job. Among his dead victims are the fathers of Sara Sandoval (Salma Hayek) and Maria Alvarez (Penelope Cruz). Looking for personal revenge and justice for people whose lands were stolen, these two brave girls join forces and start robbing the banks before the merciless Jackson can reach them. They can use all the help they can get in this unequal battle, and Quentin (Steve Zahn) is the mastermind who offers guidance and protection to the women.
