Sixteen-year-old Merliah 'Liah' Summers (voice of Kelly Sheridan) is a great surfer'so great, in fact, that she has been nicknamed 'Queen of The Waves' by her surfing peers in Malibu. But when, while surfing mavericks on the day of the surfing competition, Liah's hair turns pink when it comes in contact with the seawater, she knows something fishy is going on. She dives under the water so that no one will see her pink hair and, while underwater, realizes that she can breather underwater. It turns out that Liah is half-mermaid! But when it turns out that Liah's long-lost mother, Calissa (Nicole Oliver), it is up to Liah, together with her new friend, the dolphin Zuma (Tabitha St. Germain), to save the day!
