Barking Water, a film that premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, is the story of a Native American man named Frankie (Richard Ray Whitman) stuck in a hospital suffering through his dying days. Though he is sick, Frankie wants to go home one last time but he cannot do so on his own. He calls on an old flame, Irene (Casey Camp-Horinek), who still has not forgiven Frankie for his poor behavior in the past. Still, despite her better judgement, she agrees to help Frankie get home. Along their journey, they encounter strange characters and discover they still care for each other. With the specter of death hanging over him, Frankie attempts to make amends with Irene by demonstrating how he has changed for the better. Though he can never undo the past, Frankie must ask for forgiveness to truly go home again. Shot on location throughout Oklahoma, Barking Water is an excellent independent drama dealing with death, love, and forgiveness.moreless
