Barnum is a musical based on the story of the life of P.T. Barnum (Michael Crawford), a 19th Century American showman who traveled with his performing troupes around America between 1835 and 1880. This wonderfully entertaining musical features many circus-type acts as created by Barnum himself. Performers include jugglers, clowns, trapeze artists and more. Barnum is an entertaining character, and his story captivates the audience. The musical documents his journey through life, as he imagines his performances and brings them to life for the audience; has an affair and works through this with his wife; and eventually decides on his priorities in life and pulls it all together. Songs such as "The Colours of my Life" and "One Brick at a Time" make up some of the most famous scenes from this movie, based on the long-running stage musical. For musical theater lovers and fans of the circus this is the perfect movie; but it is entertaining for everyone.
