Barquero, Spanish for Boatman, follows Travis (Lee Van Cleef) as he stands between a mob of killers and safety on the U.S.-Mexican border. Jake Remy (Warren Oates) leads a gang of murderous outlaws who have pulled off a successful robbery of guns and money. They're on their way to Mexico to escape the authorities hot on their trail but they are trapped in a riverside village when Travis refuses to ferry them across the river. The outlaws capture Travis, but his friend and mountain-man Phil (Forrest Tucker) arrives in time to rescue him from the mercenaries. While the standoff between Travis and Remy continues, Remy must also contend with the residents of the border town, who are much more trouble than he thought they would be. Remy is battling mother nature, time, and his own men in this 1970 Western film. Gordon Douglas directs the film produced by MGM and United Artists.
