Basquiat is a documentary by Tamra Davis. The film is a close look into the personal life of Jean-Michael Basquiat, a famous graffiti artist. He was born in New York City in 1960. At 18 he was living on the streets, homeless. Samo was his style of graffiti tag. In 1981 he put his work on canvas for the first time. He was famous by 1983 and good friends with Andy Warhol. At the young age of 25, Jean-Michael dies of a heroin overdose. He went on to produce many pieces of great art, today his work sells for millions of dollars. Not only does this movie show Basquiat as the charismatic and troubled man that he was, it gives insight into the mysteries that accompanied Basquiat's life.
